Lamborghini Cars – Introduction and History
Lamborghini is an Italian automobile manufacturer that produces luxury sports cars. The company was founded in October 1963 by Ferruccio Lamborghini at Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy as Automobili Ferruccio Lamborghini S.p.A. The company was first widely acclaimed for the Miura sports coupé in 1966. The company, however, saw a dip in overall sales in 1973 worldwide financial turndown, after which it was taken over by American Chrysler Corporation. It was further taken over by V’Power Corporation in 1994, before finally becoming a part of Volkswagen Group’s Audi division in 1998.
Current Models of Lamborghini Cars
The company currently produces sports cars and V12 engines for offshore powerboat racing. The current models available include the V10-powered Huracan and V12-powered Aventador. Both of these cars are mid-engine two-seat sports cars.
The Aventador line consists of the LP 700–4 coupe and roadster and the Huracan line currently includes only the LP 610-4 coupe. Aventedor was introduced in 2011 and has a top speed of 349 km/h. On the other hand, the Huracan was introduced in 2014 and has a top speed of 325 km/h.
The company also produced a limited-production 1,000 cc motorcycle in mid-1980s. In addition to everything that company produces, it licenses its brand to manufacturers that produce a variety of Lamborghini-branded consumer goods like clothing, accessories, bags, electronics, laptop computers, etc.
Per the 2011 figures, the company employed only 831 people who produced 1,711 vehicles. The famous Gallardo got discontinued from production in 2013.
Lamborghini Concept Vehicles
The company has been introducing concept vehicles ever since its inception, with the first one introduced in 1963 as 350 GTV at the Turin Auto Show. It ran on a V12 engine.
The most recently introduced concept vehicles from the company include Urus, Egoista, and Asterion. The Urus was revealed at the Auto China in 2012, Egoista at the Grande Giro di Italia in 2013, and the Asterion was unleashed at the Paris Motor Show in 2014.
