Jaguar Cars – History and More
The company was founded in 1922 as Swallow Sidecar Company by Sir William Lyons and William Wamsley, and developed only sidecars initially. The company changed its name to “Jaguar” in 1945 and merged with variety of companies over a period of time. The company that we know today is a brand of Jaguar Land Rover owned by Tata Motors of India since 2008. Jaguar Land Rover is a British multinational car manufacturer with headquarters in Whitney, Coventry, England.
One of the achievements of the company can be said to have manufactured cars for the British Prime Minister in the recent years, with the most recent delivery being an XJ in May of 2010. Furthermore, the company holds royal warrants from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles.
Current Jaguar Car Models
The current models from the company include XE, F-Type, XF, XJ, and a range of R models.
The XE is the first compact executive car and the first car in its segment with an aluminum monocoque structure. It was introduced in 2014 in Geneva Motor Show, with sales starting in 2015.
The F-Type is a 2-seater convertible that was launched in 2012 at the Paris Motor Show. The car is available with three engine choices, with two variants of AJ126 V6 petrol engine and one variant of the AJ133 V8 petrol engine.
Next is the mid-size executive car XF. It was introduced back in 2008 to replace the S-Type. The car has many accolades to its name from different automotive critics.
The XJ is a full-size luxury saloon car, the fourth generation of which was introduced in 2009 with improved exterior styling and many added features.
The R range of models from the company includes XFR, XKR, XFR-S, XKR-S, XJR, and F-Type R. The XFR is a mid-size saloon churning out 510 hp. The XKR is available as a coupe and cabriolet churning out the same power as XFR. The XFR-S produces max power of 550 hp and is a mid-size saloon. The XKR-S is again available as a coupe and cabriolet, with this trim producing power of 550 hp. The F-Type R is a coupe and produces 550 hp.
